Severe bleeding
- Apply firm, direct pressure with a clean cloth for at least 5 minutes.
- Elevate the injured area if possible; do not remove soaked cloth, add another layer.
- If bleeding doesn’t stop, use a tourniquet above the wound and call emergency services.
Unconscious but breathing
- Place in recovery position on their side, keep airway open.
- Check breathing regularly; keep warm; do not give food or drink.
- Call emergency services and monitor until help arrives.
Burns
- Cool the burn under running water for 20 minutes.
- Do not apply ice, butter, or toothpaste; cover loosely with clean cloth.
- Seek medical help for large/deep burns or if face/hands/genitals are affected.
